Halloween... Soap!

One of the Young Nesters sponsors contacted me about doing a review (my first ever!) for her Halloween themed products just in time for the spooky season and I jumped on board.  Tanya from Baby Duck Soap Co. sent me a bar of her Spiderweb (pumpkin scented) Soap, Moonlight Pomegranate Whipped Shea Body Butter, and Pumpkin Cheesecake Lip Butter.  Are you drooling yet?

Everything arrived packaged and themed for Halloween.  Kids would go nuts for a package like this, even for something that's to clean them!  And keep on reading to find out how you can get one of these gift pack sent to your door, for FREE!

I tried out everything within 24 hours I think because it all smelled awesome.

So in the spirit of full disclosure, I'll let you all know I had a "lady doctor" appointment last week, the annual one we all loathe love... and I thought I should probably shave my legs.  Because let's face it, I need a little extra motivation to shave my legs once the weather gets colder.  These products arrived just in time and I was psyched to try them out.  I used the soap bar for shaving and it felt great.  No razer burn or skin sensitivity.  The smell was really nice too.  I'm more of a fruity/flowers scent type of girl but I was into this Pumpkin bar.  Subtle but yummy.  After my shower my skin was soft, no dryness or feeling of residue on my skin.

So I dried off and cracked open the Whipped Shea Body Butter and it smelled so good!  Pomegranate is totally right up my alley.  Tanya sent instructions that a "little goes a long way" and not to use too much or it might feel a little greasy.  So I followed her tip and it felt awesome on my skin, not greasy in the least bit.  It even still felt great the next morning.

I topped it all off with the lip butter (which my husband and I now fight over) and I was all ready for date night!  Too bad I was just going to the doctor for my lady business...

And because it would be awkward to show you pictures of me rubbing soap and lotion on my body... I'll show you pictures of my soapy baby!

I asked Tanya about using her soaps with kids and here's some of the great info she shared with me when comparing her natural ingredients with more commercially distributed products:
  • "The bar soap found in grocery stores are actually detergents and not soap. The glycerin is removed from commercial soap and chemicals such as, Sodium Laurel Sulfate (SLS) are added to lower the cost of the bar and to add lather. The glycerin is then added to expensive moisturizers and sold back to us. Handcrafted soaps are made with high quality, natural oils and the glycerin stays in the soap. Making the bar more moisturizing and leaves your skin feeling smooth rather than itchy."
I should also note that with the oils and fragrances, this soap bar is not tear-free so just make sure to keep suds away from little eyes.  AND look out for her new tear-free soap she's adding to the shop very soon!

You can see lots more of her affordable soaps and beauty products in her Etsy shop.  She's got great gift packages for the holiday season coming up soon, themed products like this Halloween trio, and some really fun stuff for the kids.  She also lists all of her ingredients and shares more details about her creative process and her family.

Come back on All Hallows Eve (Wednesday) to enter a giveaway to win this great three-pack of non-scary products for your own family.

Disclosure: I was given these products in exchange for a written review.  I was not required to share any information other than my honest opinion, positive or negative.  It just so happens that Tanya makes some rockin' products.   All paid links are tagged "nofollow" as per Google's PageRank policy.

  1. The scents make the soap sound good enough to eat. Seriously though, love handmade soaps and a tear-free version would be awesome.

  4. My children and I have super sensitive skin and cannot use most bar soaps...even those sold in stores as "natural (that probably shouldn't be labeled as such)". Would LOVE to try the pumpkin bar!
